Blockout, sunscreen or both?
Roller blinds are simple, clean-lined and suit most rooms. Blockout fabrics limit light through the fabric and are popular for bedrooms and media rooms. Sunscreen fabrics soften glare and heat while helping you keep a view outside, which suits living areas and kitchens. A dual roller blind combines both on one bracket so you can switch between daytime openness and night-time privacy.
Details that make a difference
Fit matters. Inside-mount blinds sit within the window recess for a tidy look, while outside-mount blinds sit on the wall or frame and can help with light gaps at the edges. Control type, fabric colour, and whether the blind is cordless or motorised are worth deciding at the measure, particularly if young children live in the home.
Get them measured properly
Because every blind is made to order, accurate measuring is the most important step. We measure each window in your home, show samples, and explain the trade-offs so you can choose with confidence.
Roller blinds: your questions answered
What is the difference between blockout and sunscreen blinds?
Blockout fabric limits light transmission through the fabric and suits rooms where privacy and room darkening matter. Sunscreen fabric filters sunlight and glare, with visibility depending on the weave and lighting conditions.
Why choose dual roller blinds?
Dual rollers let you use a sunscreen layer during the day and a blockout layer when greater privacy or light control is needed. We check that the opening has room for the brackets and both blinds.
Will blockout roller blinds make my bedroom completely dark?
Blockout describes the fabric, not a guarantee of a completely dark room. Light can enter around the edges and fittings. The window shape and mounting arrangement affect the result, which we explain during measuring.
Can roller blinds help with heat and privacy?
The selected fabric and fit can help manage direct sunlight and comfort, but performance varies with the window and exposure. Sunscreen fabrics generally do not give reliable night-time privacy when the room is brighter than outside; a blockout layer provides more coverage.
